if you meant 1/4 of a bowlful, then
2/3 - 1/4 = 8/12 - 3/12 = 5/12, leaving 7/12

if you meant 1/4 of the soup in the bowl, then
2/3 * 1/4 = 1/6, and
2/3 - 1/6 = 1/2 of a bowlful left

you need to be more careful in how you ask a question.
