    (3 x - 2) (x + 1) = 100 / 2
3 x^2 + x - 2 - 50 = 0
3 x^2 + x - 52 = 0 ... (3 x + 13) (x - 4) = 0 ... x = -13 / 3 ... and ... x = 4
logarithms are not defined for negative quantities ... x = 4
