What was the first country that was founded that still exists today?

I am not sure what "exists" means.
Iraq for example is where Mesopotamia between the Tigris and Euphrates existed at the dawn of civilization, but there have been so many changes of populations and governments since Sumeria that I hesitate to say. Moreover both the far east, China for example, and Southern Asia, Thailand for example, had very early civilizations and governments, but the connection to what we now call a "country" is tenuous at best.
