1 clause = simple sentence
2 clauses joined by one of the FANBOYS conjunctions = compound sentence
2 clauses with a subordinating conjunction at the beginning of one of them = complex sentence
3 clauses = Compound-complex = a combination of the last two above.

I've never liked FANBOYS.
"For" means "because," so it should be a subordinate conjunction.
