How would you make 500mL of 1.5M HCL from a stock solution of 12.0 M HCL?

I would use the dilution formula of
mL1 x M1 = mL2 x M2
500 mL x 1.5M = mL2 x 12.0M
Solve for mL2, pipet that volume of the 12.0 M stuff into a 500 mL volumetric flask. add some distilled water (perhaps 300 mL or so), swirl, add distilled H2O to the mark on the volumetric flask. stopper, mix thoroughly, label. done.
