the volumes scale as the 3/2 power of the areas
162 * (48/108)^(3/2) = 162 * (4/9)^(3/2) = 162 * 8/27 = 48 cm^3
162 * (48/108)^(3/2) = 162 * (4/9)^(3/2) = 162 * 8/27 = 48 cm^3
