If the clock chimes three times at one o'clock, it must be a.m. So it seems the clock chimes 8 times when it reaches 6:00 am, but since the clock is half an hour fast, the actual time is 5:30 am. Therefore, if the clock has just chimed eight, the correct time should be 4:30 am.

Yes, if the clock chimes eight times when it actually is 4:00 am (half an hour fast), the correct time when the clock has just chimed eight should be 4:30 am.

You only need to pick up 3 socks to ensure you obtain a pair of the same color.

The worst-case scenario would be picking up one gray sock and one blue sock on your first two tries. The third sock you pick up would have to match one of the colors of the socks you already have, giving you a pair of the same color.

You could get it in as few as 2 picks if you are lucky enough to pick two socks of the same color. However, the question is asking for the number of socks you must pick up to *make sure* you obtain a pair of the same color. So, in the worst-case scenario, you could end up picking one of each color on the first four picks. On the fifth pick, you are guaranteed to get a sock that matches one of the colors you have already picked, giving you a pair of the same color. Therefore, you need to pick up 5 socks to make sure that you obtain a pair of the same color.

First, we need to simplify the given time values:

- 4 weeks = 28 days
- 3 days + 2 days = 5 days
- 25 hours = 24 hours + 1 hour = 1 day + 1 hour
- 14 minutes = 0 hours and 14 minutes
- 14 hours = 12 hours + 2 hours = 0.5 days + 2 hours
- 20 minutes = 0 hours and 20 minutes
- 15 seconds = 0 minutes and 15 seconds

Now, we can add these values together:

28 days + 5 days + 1 day + 1 hour + 0 hours + 0.5 days + 0 hours + 20 minutes + 0 minutes + 15 seconds

= 35 days + 1 hour + 0.5 days + 20 minutes + 15 seconds

= 35 days, 1 hour, 20 minutes, and 15 seconds

So, the total time is 35 days, 1 hour, 20 minutes, and 15 seconds.
