                Bob the Baker prepared a variety of cookies. 3/8 of the cookies were triple fudge. 1/5 of the remaining cookies were oatmeal raisin. There were 48 sugar cookies. How many cookies did Bob the Baker prepare altogether ?

    3/8 fudge leaves 5/8
1/5 of those = 1/8
so 4/8 were sugar (assuming that all those left over at this point were in fact sugar cookies)
