Ya REALLY need to know History. There were pretty much 1 Abraham Lincoln was the Prez. at that time, the cause was because of slavery, Abraham wanted to ABOLISH slavery. The South fought to defend slavery. The North's focus was not to end slavery but to help it. The slavery apology debate misses these facts. IT IS GENERALLY accepted that the Civil War was the most critical event in American history. At the end of the war, south won, so Abraham gave the Getttizperd Adress. Probably the most famous speech, after " I Have A Dream ", at a theatre, "someone" shot Abe.
