A farmer in a tropical rain forest climate currently grows tea. The farmer is debating whether to use inter-cropping to grow both rubber and tea. In 3–5 sentences, analyze the costs and benefits of adopting this sustainable farming practice.

Intercropping has several advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that it provides another way for the farmer to earn money. Another advantage is that if one type of crop is destroyed by harsh weather, possibly the other one could survive. One disadvantage is that it costs more upfront. It costs more to plant, water, and harvest. It is also more complicated to harvest.
