Dividing 108 by more than a number gives the same result as diving 72 by three less than a number. What is the number?

how much "more than a number"? Let's call is m. So now you know that
108/(m+x) = 72/(x-3)
72m+72x = 108x - 324
36x = 324+72m
x = 8m+9
