    Mastodon bones were found on the Manis farm in 1977 and a spear was found embedded in the mastodon's rib. By examining the teeth, archaeologists determined that this mastodon had eaten seeds and pollen grains that were 12,000-14,000 years old. This provides proof that there were mastodon hunters in western Washington 12,000 years ago.
