Countertransference is a noun, so it has no tenses
"transfer" is the present tense of "to transfer" (also transfers, depending in subject/verb agreement)
prefixing "counter-" does not change that.

"Jane was countertransfering ..." is perfectly correct, as the past progressive tense.
