the midpoint is the average of the two ends.
So, the x-coordinate is (5-1)/2 = 4
Now you do the y-coordinate.

6. A(5, 8), M(x, y), B(-1, -4).
x-5 = 1/2(-1-5)
X = -3+5 = 2.
y-8 = 1/2(-4 -8)
Y = -6+8 = 2.
x-5 = 1/2(-1-5)
X = -3+5 = 2.
y-8 = 1/2(-4 -8)
Y = -6+8 = 2.
