To earn money, George types papers for college students. For regular term papers, he charges by the page: $1.50 each. For scientific and technical papers, he charges more because they take longer to type. If he types forty-five regular pages and thirty-six technical pages, how much will he earn?

you give the rate for regular papers: 1.50 per page
But you need to give the rate for scientific papers.
So, if he charges $x for those, his total charge will be
45 * 1.50 + 36x

henry2,
1. 27/3 = 9.
9/3 = 3.
2. P = 2L+2W = 20.
A = L*W = 24.
L = 24/W
In Eq1, replace L with 24/W and solve for W:
2(24/W)+2W = 20.
48/W+2W = 20
48+2W^2 = 20W
2W^2-20W+48 = 0
W^2-10W+24 = 0. 24 = -6*-4, sum = -10 = B.
(x-6)(x-4) = 0
W = 6, and 4. Use the larger number, 6.
L*W = 24
L*6 = 24
L = 4 in.
9/3 = 3.
