The difference between a clause and a phrase is that a clause has a subject and a verb, but a phrase doesn't. A phrase may have a noun with modifiers or an adjective or participle with modifiers or a verb form with modifiers. (In some cases, modifiers aren't needed.) You can look up Clauses and Phrases in the website's index, too.
