Mieko bought 2 gallons of paint. She used 1/4 of the paint on her bedroom, 3 quarts on the hallway, and the rest of the paint in the living room. How many quarts of paint did mieko use in the living room?

in terms of quarts, 1/4 of 2 gallons is 2 quarts. So,
2 + 3 + x = 8
2 + 3 + x = 8

henry2,
2gal. * 4qts./gal. = 8qts.
8 - 8 * 1/4 = 6qts. left.
6-3 = 3qts. left for living room.
8 - 8 * 1/4 = 6qts. left.
6-3 = 3qts. left for living room.
