Question

Your dog is about to sled up the hills shown in the figure below where h1 = 4.0 m and h2 = 5.1 m. You give your dog a little push at the bottom of hill with a speed of 9.0 m/s. (Starts on ground level before h1.) Assume that the friction between the sled and the snow and air resistance is negligible. Will the dog make it to the top of hill B? If no, what is the maximum height the dog will achieve?

the initial K.E. from the push becomes P.E. as the sled goes uphill

1/2 m v^2 = m g h ... max h = v^2 / (2 g)
