Given the parent function, y=2^x, write an equation for a function that has a vertical shift down 5 units.

Wouldn't each y value be 5 less than before
e.g. If (3,8) is a point on the given equation, then (3,3) would be a point on your new equation
where did I get the original 8 ? ---- from the 2^x)
what did I do to the 8 ????
