I will assume you meant:
(2+i)/(3+i)
= (2+i)/(3+i) * (3-i)/(3-i) , I just multiplied by 1
= (6 + i - i^2)/(9 - i^2) , remembering that i^2 = -1
= (7 + i)/(9+1)
= (7+i)/10

hey, we just realized the denominator!
