The width of 2 less than its length means W = L - 2

P = 2 ( W + L ) = 96

Replace W = L - 2 in tis equation

2 ( L - 2 + L ) = 96

2 ( 2 L - 2 ) = 96

2 ∙ 2 ( L - 1 ) = 96

4 ( L - 1 ) = 96

Divide both sides by 4

L - 1 = 24

Add 1 to both sides

L = 25
