What's the point of doing and going to school when I could be doing something I value more than school, such as making my own games, programming or something. Can someone give me some insight into the significance of school in our lives so I can get some motivation for it

Or pottery or something

What do you want to do with your life? Play games until you’re 80 or whatever?

Seriously, though, you need to decide at least the general direction of the career you want, and then pursue the education and training you need to reach that goal. That sounds very glib, I’m sure, but overall it’s what each young person needs to work toward.

Take a look through these career inventories. Choose one to take. It can help you focus on a direction if you don’t already have one.

And if it’s designing games and programming you want, be sure to take LOTS of math, tech, art, and other related courses. I’ve read that young people who graduate from Stanford and other universities in the San Francisco Bay Area with various degrees (especially those with plenty of math and tech included) are practically guaranteed jobs at Google, Apple, Oracle, IBM, or any of the other high-tech companies in that area.
