Convert 26 base n to base 10 and leave 86 cuz its already in base 10
You should get n^2 + 2n + 6 = 86
When arranged you should get
n^2 + 2n - 80 = 0
The values of n are 8 or -10
The positive value is 8 👍

126n = 86 change to base 10 which is below:
1×n square +2×n raise to the power of one + 6×n raise to the power of 0 =86
N square+ 2n+6=86
N square + 2n+6-86=0
N square+ 2n-80= 0
You bring out -80N square
Then you find what can go which is 10N and -8n
N Square + 10N -8n-80= 0
(N Square+ 10N) (-8N-80)= 0
You find the common thing in each of the bracket which is N(N+10) -8(N+10) = 0
Either (n-8)=0
OR
(N+10)=0
8 or -10
Since the base cannot be negative therefore N=8
N= 8 is the answer
