y varies directly with x means:
y = k ∙ x
if x = 8 and y = 24 then:
24 = k ∙ 8
Divide both sides by 8
3 = k
k = 3
y = 3 ∙ x
when x = 10 then:
y = 3 ∙ 10 = 30
y = k ∙ x
if x = 8 and y = 24 then:
24 = k ∙ 8
Divide both sides by 8
3 = k
k = 3
y = 3 ∙ x
when x = 10 then:
y = 3 ∙ 10 = 30
