solid sulfur is not soluble in water; therefore, set up a filter funnel, place a piece of folded filter paper in it, pour the sulfur/water mixture into the funnel/paper set up. The water goes through. The solid sulfur stays in the paper. Dry the paper and voila, you have S and water separated.
