Question
Original post:
I am not sure about this. I thank you for your help.
How do you use brainstorming and clustering differently?
I know that clustering is a brainstorming technique. Brainstorming is used to influence creative thinking and develop ideas. Clustering is when you choose a word that is central to the assignment.
Revised answer Please let me know what you think thank you.
In brainstorming I would informally write down about a topic or a point I was trying to make about a topic. For instance, if my topic was Why is smoking bad for your health? I would write down ideas freely about my topic. For example, Why is smoking bad for your health? lungs, cancer, wheezing, asthma, emphysema and so on. In clustering I would explore my ideas as soon as they came to mind. For an example if I was writing a paper on “How does Television have an impact on kids? “I might choose the words Tv and kids and write them in the middle of my paper. Then I would circle the words “Tv and kids” on my paper then write words all around them when I think of Tv and kids. I would organize different ideas to show the relationship among the ideas.

This is quite wordy and repetitious. Try this:
Brainstorming is used to influence creative thinking and develop ideas. I would informally write a list of ideas about a topic or a point I was trying to make about a topic. For instance, if my topic is "Why is smoking bad for your health?" I would write down ideas freely about my topic, such as lungs, cancer, wheezing, asthma, emphysema, and so on.
Clustering is choosing words that are central to the assignment and then brainstorming ideas for each of those words, exploring ideas as soon as they come to mind. For example, if I were writing a paper on “How does Television have an impact on kids?" I might choose the words "TV" and "kids" and write them in the middle of my paper. Then I would circle the words "TV" and "kids" on my paper and continue writing words all around them as I think of each. I would organize different ideas to show the relationship among the ideas.
