a recipe requires 5/6 cups of sugar. if mrs.marina is going to make one half of the recipe, how much sugar does she need?

(1/2) * (5/6) = 5/12

5x(1/2) is 2.5, so it's 2.5/6 or you can multiply it by 2 to get whole numbers= 5/12
