Laurie pushes Michael forward off a frozen pond onto a frozen patch of grass at 43.6 m/s. He slows down to 88.8 m/s and glides for 58.6 m. What was his acceleration?
I have to round this to hundredths place.
Send help, please.

how is going from 43.6 m/s to 88.8 m/s "slowing down"?
Answered by henry2,
Vo = 88.8 m/s? = Initial velocity.
V = 43.6 m/s? = Final velocity.

V^2 = Vo^2 + 2a*d = 43.6^2.
88.8^2 + 2a*58.6 = 1901,
117.2a = -5984.4,
a = -51 m/s^2.
