a person walks 400m north along one side of a rectangular field and then 300 m along the other side, the walk takes 10 min, calculate the av. velocity of the person?

If the person had walked from one corner of the rectangle to the opposite corner, he would have walked
only 500m. Since he chose the longest
route, he walked a total of 700m(300+400).
