What is the equation of the line shown on the graph?
A graph is shown in the xy-plane. The x-axis is labeled as Number of Target Hits and the y-axis is labeled as Number of Points Scored. The values on the x-axis range from 0 to 18 in increments of 2 and the values on the y-axis range from 0 to 72 in increments of 8. A line starts from the origin, goes up, and passes through (2, 8), (4, 16), and so on.
A. y=x
B. y=4x
C. y=−x
D. y=1/4x
PLEASE HELP I think its D and i cant put a picture because it wont work but that is all the information

Each pair (x,y) corresponds to a point on the graph
So, check each formula to see whether it works.
For example, y = -x does not work, since 8 ≠ -2
It should be easy to see which formula works for the given points.
Did you actually try any of the choices?

If you plot the few points you have, you can find the slope of the line.
The slope of the line is the m portion in y = mx +b
Right away you can see the graph goes up and to the right, so the slope is positive... thus letter c is out.
You can either drop a triangle between any two points on the graph or use the slope formula (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) to find the slope.
Your answer of letter D is INCORRECT.
Work out the slope.
The slope DOES NOT work out to 1/4 so it can't be D
