I've read over the lesson and tried searching for websites to help on Google, but I still can't comprehend the concept of a "square root". It doesn't make sense. I do know what a perfect square is, though. Can someone help...?

We square a number by multiplying a number by itself.
2^2 = 2 * 2 = 4 The square root of 4 = 2
3^2 = 3 * 3 = 9 The square root of 9 = 3
4^2 = 4 * 4 = 16 The square root of 16 = 4
2^2 = 2 * 2 = 4 The square root of 4 = 2
3^2 = 3 * 3 = 9 The square root of 9 = 3
4^2 = 4 * 4 = 16 The square root of 16 = 4
