Both B and C are reasonable choices. I favor B -- especially if an apartment were added to house.

There's another choice your text didn't mention! Get a roommate!! That's what my grandson did until he was making enough money to rent an apartment on his own.

I know, and it's too bad. It's what lots of young people in Austin and elsewhere do after getting their degrees and are just starting out.
