The shortest leg of a triangle is 2 inches shorter than the other leg. The hypotenuse of this triangle is 10 inches. What are the lengths of the two legs of this triangle?

x^2 + (x + 2)^2 = 10^2
2 x^2 + 4 x + 4 = 100 ... x^2 + 2x + 2 = 50
solve for x (the shortest leg)
