A = larger number

B = smaller number

The quotient of two numbers is 2 mean:

A / B = 2

The product is 8 mean:

A ∙ B = 8

First equation is:

A / B = 2

From this equation:

A = 2 B

Replace this value in second equation.

A ∙ B = 8

2 B ∙ B = 8

2 B² = 8

Divide both sides by 2

B² = 4

B = √ 4

B = 2

A = 2 B

A = 2 ∙ 2

A = 4

Larger number = 4

Smaller number = 2

Proof:

A / B = 4 / 2 = 2

A ∙ B = 4 ∙ 2 = 8
