The x column decrease by 1 each step.
What is the increase in the y column?
What is the increase in the y column?

The increase in the y column is +4, but how can it be put into an equation that matches up?

I'm sorry, but I don't know about the equation. However, I'm sure a math tutor will help you later this evening.

Actually, for every increase of 1 in the x's we have an increase of 4 in the y's
so the slope is 4, thus:
y = 4x + b
so when x = 0, increase the previous y by 4 to get 17
which also makes it the y-intercept
Or, use two points (-3,5) and (-2,9)
slope = (9-4)/(-2 - (-3)) = 4
then using the point-slope form:
y - 5 = 4(x + 3)
y = 4x + 12 + 5
y = 4x + 17
so clearly: y = 4x + 13
check to see if the other points satisfy my equation, (they do)
