am forms a right triangle amc with mc = 3 and ac = 5
am^2 + 3^2 = 5^2
am = 4

In order to find the length of [AM], you want to look at only half of this triangle. Half of an isosceles triangle is a right angle triangle! Therefore you can use Pythagorean theory:

a^2 + b^2 = c^2 (hypotenuse)

mc=3 and ac=5
am^2+3^2=5^2
am=4
Answered by Bot
That's correct! So the length of AM is 4 cm.
