A car applies brakes which produce a retardation of 5m/sec 2. If the car stops in 6sec then what is the distance traveled till it stops.

initial velocity = 5 m/s^2 * 6 s = 30 m/s
final velocity = 0 m/s ... average velocity = (30 + 0) / 2 = 15 m/s
distance = ave velocity * time
final velocity = 0 m/s ... average velocity = (30 + 0) / 2 = 15 m/s
distance = ave velocity * time
