The first thing you should have done was get the unknowns on one side and the knowns on the other. In this problem
c/4 - 5 = 4
Add 5 to both sides
c/4 = 9
Now isolate the unknown by multiplying both sides by 4.
c = 36
And there you are!
Let's prove it.
36 / 4 - 5 = 4
9 - 5 = 4
Yep! It works
c/4 - 5 = 4
Add 5 to both sides
c/4 = 9
Now isolate the unknown by multiplying both sides by 4.
c = 36
And there you are!
Let's prove it.
36 / 4 - 5 = 4
9 - 5 = 4
Yep! It works
