Question

Dear Jiskha,

I know I am probably nagging you, and asking for answers isn't up to your fancy but if you could, give me an example? 3x + 6 = 24
Example please but not the answer to question.

Sincerely,
Helen Doe

Ms. Sue
I'm not sure what you expect in an example. But I will show you how to solve this problem.

3x + 6 = 24

That means that 3 times an unknown number plus 6 equals 24.

First, subtract 6 from both sides.

3x = 18

Next, divide both sides by 3.

x = 6
