I see. Can you please provide the numbers that were given to you? Then I can provide an answer option.

The numbers given to you are -3, ?, and -1 1/8.

Since -3 is smaller than -1 1/8, the number you insert should be bigger than -3 and smaller than -1 1/8.

Out of the options given, 2 1/4 is the only number that satisfies this condition. Therefore, the answer is (C) 2 1/4.
