It may take more than 4 minutes for you to find and understand the formula for finding the surface area of a cylinder in that website.

circumference is C
radius is r
width is w
length is l
Area is A
C = 2(3.14)(r) = 6.28(4.9) = 30.772
Think of a cylinder as a rectangle attached to two circles, with a length of the height of the 3D figure and a width of the circles' circumferences. Thus, the area for the rectangle is
A = wl = 30.772(7.8) = 240.0216 = ~240 ft^2
Thus, the area for both of the circles combined is
2A = 2(3.14)r^2 = (6.28)(4.9)^2 = 150.7828 = ~150.8 ft^2
Thus, both the areas of the "rectangle" and two "circles" combined make the surface area
240 ft^2 + 150.8 ft^2 = 390.8 ft^2
That is all.

Also, try to do your own work. There are even calculators online that can do this. I worked it out by myself to show you the steps.
