I did this problem on a practice test, but the answer isn't in the back of my study guide, although I believe I'm correct. Can someone check my work? Thanks; very appreciated.
Find p(-2) if p(x) = 3x^4 + 3x^3 + 7x - 10
3(-2^4) + 3(-2^3) + 7(-2) -10
3(-16) + 3(-8) -14 -10
-48 -24 -24=
-96

starting at your second line, it should have been
3(-2)^4 + 3(-2)^3 + 7(-2) -10
= 3(16) + 3(-8) - 14 - 10
= 48 - 24 - 14 - 10
= 0
notice x = -2, so -2 is the base of your powers
(-2)^even exponents is +
(-2)^odd exponent is -1
3(-2)^4 + 3(-2)^3 + 7(-2) -10
= 3(16) + 3(-8) - 14 - 10
= 48 - 24 - 14 - 10
= 0
