It is important that when you sub into
y=-3x^2
the y value will always be negative.
make sure you do (-3)(x^2) , so you square the x first, which will never be negative,
and then multiply that by -3.
So any point in your list with a positive y would be incorrect immediately.

Triangle ABC is shown on the graph below.
Triangle ABC is shown on a graph. Vertex A is at the point left parenthesis 1 comma 3 right parenthesis. Vertex B is at the point left parenthesis 4 comma 5 right parenthesis. Vertex C is at the point left parenthesis 3 comma 1 right parenthesis.
Triangle ABC is reflected over the y-axis. What are the coordinates of the reflected triangle?
Describe in words what happens to the x-coordinates and y-coordinates of the original triangle’s vertices as a result of this reflection.

7. reflection through the y-axis moves the sign of the x coordinate.
you could experiment with graph paper, just draw a point and flip it over the y-axis.
8. A is 3 by 1, B is 5 by 4, and C is 1 by 3.
3 + 5 + 1 = 9
1 + 4 + 3 = 8
so the final number is 9 by 8

a. After reflecting triangle ABC over the y-axis, the new coordinates would be A' (-1, 3), B'(-4, 5), and C'(-3, 1).
b. Reflecting a point over the y-axis negates its x-coordinate. So the x-coordinate of A would be negated, resulting in A' having the x coordinate of -1. Similarly, the x-coordinate of B would be negated, giving B' an x-coordinate of -4. The x-coordinate of C would also be negated, resulting in C' having an x-coordinate of -3. However, reflecting over the y-axis does not change the sign of the y-coordinate, so the y-coordinates of the vertices would stay the same.

c. After translating triangle ABC 1 unit right and 2 units down, the new coordinates would be A' (2, 1), B'(5, 3), and C'(4,-1).
b. The arrow notation for this translation would be T 1,-2. This means that all the points are translated 1 unit to the right (positive x direction) and 2 units downwards (negative y direction).
