Yellow journalism is a key term. What does it mean?

This is a bruh moment
The image can be considered yellow journalism because it is exaggerated. It was not taken at the scene of the explosion
most likely didn't cause bodies to fly or create as large of a fireball like the image depicts. The image was created to
anger the American public against spain, by saying that the ship was destroyed by a Spanish mine even though this was not
a definite fact. Plus the stirred emotions from the massive body count and the motivation of a $50,000 reward for finding
the perpetrator, this played a major role in the Spanish-American War.

I agree with your response, but you have to help the students understand the question. If you just give them the answer they will not know how to use their own knowledge or understand questions.

You do know that this is a question off of a quiz on an online test where the teacher has covered the topic and provides a video to help with the understanding of how to do the question?

The headline show that "Destruction of the war ship MAINE was the work an enemy". This is exaggeration and yellow journalism as its pulling at the heartstrings of americans. The journalist is trying to convince everyone that America is under attack when really they are not. $50,000 reward, do you even realize how much money that was back then? They will never pay anyone that money because this event never happened, it was just made up by a yellow journalist.

The headline "Destruction of the War Ship Maine Was the Work of an Enemy" could be described as yellow journalism because it is an exaggeration and an attempt to provoke outrage amongst the American public. The story suggests that the warship Maine was destroyed by an external enemy, despite there not being any concrete evidence to support this claim.
The headline and story could have played a major role in the U.S. involvement in the Spanish-American war because it helped to stir up nationalist and interventionist sentiment. The yellow journalism tactics and sensationalist coverage of the story also helped to create a distinct anti-Spanish sentiment in the American public. The publication of this headline is believed to have helped push President McKinley and the U.S. government towards taking a more aggressive and confrontational stance towards Spain.
