add 6x to both sides
6x + 50 < 8
subtract 50 from both sides
6x < -42
divide both sides by 6
x < -7

subtract 8 from both sides. you always want to deal with the number on the same side as the variable (x). you will get 42 < -6x. divide each side by -6. this will result in -7 < x, or since you divided by a negative, x > -7 (you flip to greater than)

up to your 42 < -6x , .... OK
then you said , "divide each side by -6"
42 < -6x ----> -7 > x , but you had -7 < x even though you actually said that you
had to "flip" the inequality, but did not do it
