It's not an equation. There's no equal sign.

3(x - 3) + 3x
3x - 9 + 3x
9x - 9

Work it out.
-2( y- 3) = 2y -6
-2y - 6 = 2y - 6
etc. How many answers can you get for y? I get y = 4 so it has one solution.

Here is another example but you can get more than one answer.
X^2 + 5x + 6 = 0 and solve.
(X+2)(X+3) = 0
There are two solutions to this one.
X+2 = 0 so X = -2
X+3 = 0 so X = -3

Go to Google and type in "how many solutions are there to an equation" without the quotation marks. I can't post the URL.
