                what is the valence of Phosphorus in Phosphorus pentachloride? I think its 5, because thats how many valence electrons are in phosphorus.

    I agree P is +5 but not for that reason. PCl5  is zero charge as is all compounds. Cl is -1 so P must be +5 to balance at zero.
