f(x)=5x-x^2, f(5+h)-f(5) over h
Please help I am so lost! All I know is that you have to put (5+h) wherever there is an x.

so let's do that
f(5+h) = 5(5+h) - (5+h)^2
= 25 + 5h - 25 - 10h - h^2
= -5h - h^2
and f(5) = 25 - 25 = 0
so f(5+h)-f(5) over h
= (-5h - h^2 - 0)/h
= -5 - h , if h is not equal to zero
