combined is 2 3/4 + 3 2/3
a crude estimate, rounding up each width, is 3+4 = 7

or, you could estimate that 3/4 is about as much as 2/3, so the estimate could be
2 2/3 + 3 2/3 = 5 4/3 = 6 1/3
2 3/4 + 3 3/4 = 5 6/4 = 6 1/2
