In scientific notation the number left of the decimal must be 1, 2 ..... 9
nothing smaller, nothing bigger
so it is
4.25 times something
4.25*10^1 = 42.5
4.25*10^2 = 425
4.25*10^3 = 4,250
4.25*10^4 = 42,500
4.25*10^5 = 425,000
